We had a postcard hand-dropped through our letterbox a few days ago: has anyone heard of these guys?

On completion of the course you will be qualified to ‘degree level’ in Computer Games Development, but more importantly you will have completed a course developed by key Games Industry professionals and as such, will be highly employable by the many thousands of Games Developers and publishers in the UK and across the world

Methinx the numbers and benefits may be overly optimistic...

I must find out more!

Oh wait... you have to fill in a form to get any hard details on the course. Dammit: foiled by apathy again.

Is this some new management technique known as 'The fist'?

Bloke in background: "Work harder codeslave or I'll give you such a fisting".
Other bloke: "ooer! I'm so afraid I think I'm holding a PS3 sixaxis controller and using my mind to control the thumbsticks!"

I believe the move he’s demonstrating in that picture is called the 'Uber Faust' and no self respecting QA jockey would be seen without displaying it at least once a week.

Well that’s what my testers tell me anyway.

so... doing a computer science degree with all the optional graphics modules whose assignments involve writing small games isn't the way forward then?

D'oh...

So how long does it take to get a 'Degree Level' qualification? Full or part time? or more importantly, how much money?

A Standard UK bachelors degree (taken in a normal college/University) usually run for around 3 years and a masters can be up to 5 years, though if you are going to get a 'games focused' course then make sure it’s a bachelors degree with honours at least (taken at a normal University, not a game school).

My course was a 3 year Bsc Hons course in programming and cost around 4.5k for the 3 years, though I know the cost has increased this year and can cost a fair bit more depending on where you take it.
