I think it's time for the butterfly to come back, personally.

Or at least gimme a fucking trackpoint. Netbook touchpads suck.

Expensive and fragile, which is two things that takes them away from a netbook core market. That said, surely the market is crying out for a differentiator?

A bit of a random thought this, why has no-one made a netbook with a folding keyboard? they used to sell them for Palms, I thought I heard they were quite good (though they seemed expensive to me, and I never used one). So, if the keyboard folded in some way, you could have a full sized keyboard on a small netbook.

I had a little infrared folding keyboard for my ipac, was probably only same size as a 9" netbook keyboard unfolded and still pretty big folded up, but was pretty good for typing and playing emulators in lectures

I take it there;s no decent rollup keyboards then that can be tucked away when not in use.

Personally I have no problems with the eeepc901 keyboard, I can even play typing of the dead on it, but what gets my goat is when you type and accidentally brush the trackpad and feck the cursor up

Ended up buying a sensibly priced ex-display Logitech v470 for pointing duties

As much as I hate trackpads, the one on my Mini 1000 isn't so bad. Mainly because there's a button right next to it to turn the damn thing off. And the buttons are on the sides, which sucks, but then I left-click with a tap on the pad itself and the horizontal arrangement allows for one of the larger netbook keyboard layouts.

I'd completely missed that it has a decent-sized battery in it! I thought it was like the 80s/90s systems, where you always had a power lead trailing out of the back.

Bet it's not fun using it like a laptop for more than a few minutes, though. :)

Apologies if this has been answered a million times before in the earlier pages, but is a Dell Mini 10 able to handle video playback as standard and, more importantly, will it run Flash Player?

Oh, the pink one looks nice.

I've been trying to do this all weekend. As soon as I get the boot loader installed it hangs during boot. Did you install the boot loader on the main partition?

Made a bootable install disk on an 8Gb USB stick and patched it with NetbookBootMaker, then just upgraded the Leopard install.

Cheers for the link, I'm sure I followed those instructions. When I get back to work I'll backup the new Win7 install and try again.

Or buy a macbook. :)

I think so. The Mobii Ion 230 is that size, the only place with actual stock seems to be Overclockers UK, when it's more widely available I might get one of them, unless I decide to wait for Ion2.
