Sorry if this has been asked. But will the PC version have a physical copy that you can purchase? Space Giraffe is one of my favourite games and I'm not comfortable with only owning a digital version. The 1s and 0s making up the game can be lost in the sands of time. I really want a physical version of the game I can hold in my hands.

Also, great news about the added content. Will this come to the 360 at some stage?

I am afraid I don't think that in any "short term" you'll easily see release in a physical copy.

The problem is that the costs to produce that are *SO* big that I think "no small company can really afford them", going
retail and into physical media is *VERY* expensive, if we could afford to pay that we would be SO "super rich" that we
would not have any problem but it's not like that so far :|

You can always re-download it and re-install it in case you lost the copy.

About GR+++ well .. GR+++ so far IS already completed and working for the 360 .. but when/if is going to come out for
the 360 that's a thing in this moment we really don't know and does not depend on us.

The only thing I can tell you for SURE is that as soon as I am done with SG PC I'll immediately begin to "port" GR+++
for the PC so the PC version is the only one I can really guarantee and say "yes it's going to be done and at some point will
be ready for you to buy it".

The other "good stuff" is that while i am doing this Yak can think of/work on another game/stuff.

But about when/where/etc. the only plattform where we can say we have "100% control on it" is the PC one, the other
plattforms we are in the hands of fate ... well, as it always been really there never been any guarantee of anything.

Someone should put together some nice packaging design to fit into a DVD case so people can download and print it if they want to keep a copy on disk. Maybe something for the more artistic YakYak members to have a go at...

Interesting, I feel almost the exact opposite. I'm very bothered that my only copy of Tempest 2K is on a physical Atari Jaguar cartridge that I can't back up, as opposed to some flexible 1's and 0's that I can throw up on Amazon S3 or Microsoft LiveSky, or burn to any disc of my choosing.

But some people prefer to play on the original hardware. :)

What???

Have I missed something? Why wouldn't it come out for the 360? Surely with the some of the dross available on the marketplace this can't not get through?

It's very simple.

You have the stuff to make games, you make a game.

Then someone/somewhere has to see it and say "yes I think is good we can get this" (a)

Then someone/somewhere has to say "ok it's been accepted, let's see when I have a free slot for you" (b)
there could be a situation like "no sorry we are too full at the moment you have to wait X time before we
can put this up" ( I think there's a kind of waiting list ).

Then I don't know precisely if this can happen simultaneously/before/after ( not sure really, not my field and
things do change frequently/etc. ) I think somene has to say "ok let's make a contract for this thing, let's begin
to make things move, let's begin all the path on-the-road-of-certification-and-such". (c)

You can be semi-sure the game is going to come out only when you are in (c).

NEVER forget there can be ( even if it's unlikely ) 'd' that is "you get at the end of (c), there are issues, the
thing is rejected and you have to re-iterate (c) and/or end up there".

As a "rough estimate" it's quite a number of weeks once you are in (c), some stuff is "very sequential" and can't be
done "in parallel" so there are some technical times that have no way to speed up, it's not really "a fault" is just
how things work.

I know some steps been done, properly, but we are not at (a) yet as far as I know.

Anyway "no big deal", the important thing is that GR+++ by itself is basically "completed" the game is there, all the stuff
is there, we are not even touching it that much any more because "that's it".

MY job will be to make it run on PC, this INDEPENDENTLY on what can/will happen on the 360 as I said as soon as I am
done with SG PC this begins "the next day".

I am not worried not even a bit, the game is done, the game is good, the game works that is what counts the moment
somoene will say "let's go" things will go the moment I'll be free of working on SG PC I'll be able to say my own "Let's GO"
for the PC version of it :)

And if meanwhile nothing else goes we'll be on the next game and/or I'll have a bit of hand for the PC version, as simple as that

just a question ?

how much cost it to become 360 or PS3 developper ? to acquire the licence, the SDK and the right to make a game on it ?

Thanks for clearing that up!

So will GR+++ be easier to convert to the PC now you've lived through the Space Giraffe experience?!

I think this is all NDA and can't be answered, besides I would have not a clue now I know things are quite changed.

I think anyway "reasonable" compared to lot of other business, I mean if I'd like to open a restaurant the money I'd
need just to buy a few machinery would go far beyond all this.

Anyway "if you are able to code good stuff for a PC you'll be able to code good stuff for the 360" ( in my experience I
could say now that the reverse it's a bit 'different' ).

It should be lot easier because "a fuck load of work already been done".

In fact reasonably speaking the GR+++ conversion will begin from the "framework" constructed for Space Giraffe.

It should be easier because "a lot of problems" we did not know before now we know about them and we already
found at least one way to solve them.

However GR+++ presents/will present a few challenges because its very different nature but yes I really do expect
given all the BIG amount of work done for SG PC all this to go faster and smoother.

Honestly the idea to come out with SG, to be able to make GR+++ "good" in much shorter time and bring it out and
finally/possibly at that point have a bit of time and resources to re-organize/change some things.

Neon, SG, SG PC and GR+++ showed some things that it would be really nice ( and someway necessary ) to have
time to modify and improve, it is certainly possible to do even lot more with the "Neon technology" but it's also
possible to do it better the only problem is "improvement" == "quite some time to work on producing 'nothing' ".

The thing is also "to make another game" means that you can do SOME improvements while ALSO you have to
make a game on them so it's a bit of "half and half".

But yeah, hoping that things will work out decently I see a lot of work coming out in the future we certainly don't
miss will or ideas to work on.

I'm really looking forward to SGPC. Actually, I've been looking forward to it for quite a while now. Any word on the method of delivery? Will it be on Steam? If not, will there be a way for me to "gift" it to my brother?
