At long last ..... a demo of the game I've been working on. Please refer to Read Me for details.

Any feedback ( negative or otherwise ) would be much appreciated.
The game is locked to 50 fps. Please report FPS ( press F12 ).

That's rather excellent Stevie. Great job :)

I've only had a quick play, but here's some immediate feedback.

First when changing the resolution I lost part of the image (the top and bottom were missing, couldn't tell about the sides) I changed it to several other settings but had the same problem with them all.

Time Trial looks like potentially great fun. I can see loads of time being spent playing that. The only thing I didn't like was the way the camera suddenly switched to an overhead view when I went under a bridge and then back again. I came off the road just about every lap because of that. :) Also the ability to reset the camera behind the vehicle would be nice.

The only other mode I tried was Survivor and TBH I thought that was a bit tricky. It only takes about 3 hits from one of the big guns to kill you and several times I warped in right next to them and could do little about it. Maybe weaken the guns a bit or at least make sure you don't warp right next to them please :)

Right, I'm away for another play. :D

PS. I get a solid 50 FPS.

Is it a widescreen resolution? I don't have access to one but I'd appreciate if you could tell me the screen res and post or e-mail me a screenshot? I'll probably just have to move the hud info to cater for these a bit better.

Agreed a bit of a pain. I definately need to work on this - probably have it pan down the way rather than up. It's just that the second last overpass is just a bit too low and the cam pan kicks in. I have to change to the far out mode so that you get more time to react to that bend. If you use a smaller vehicle the default cam is fine though.

p.s. If anyone thinks they've got a good lap feel free to send me the ghost files and I'll host them.

The trick is to keep moving but yeah it is quite tough ;) I'll see about the warping being fairer.

Thanks for the feedback - exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

Just had a quick look for now. Looks great.

Seems to run well, even at very high resolution on a not very new computer.

But I can also report that the widescreen resolutions don't work. I tried 1920x1200 and 1280x720 and they both lost a chunk of the top and bottom of the screen. The 4:3 resolutions all fit fine but were displayed widescreen.

I'll see what I can do re widescreen modes. Got someone testing it as we speak.

[EDIT]
I've re-uploaded a new version - this "SHOULD" fix the GUI so that it isn't cut off.

Solid 50fps here at 1280x1024 with everything turned up to eleven.

I like the Kit car! And the gunship, though I'm pants at flying it so far. :)

What does the "possess" button do?

In some of the challenges / games ... you will be able to change vehicles mid game with the possess button - they are coloured white and static. This is disabled for the demo.

The gunship is tricky but that's deliberate. It takes a fair amount of practice.

I've ran out of bandwidth but will post a new link when I get alternative hosting.

Still doesn't solve the widescreen issues here. I tried a couple of different resolutions and I lose virtually all of the title and the quit button on the main menu.

Yes I know - thanks. I've fixed it all now and a new demo will be uploaded tomorrow at some point.

Nice work! Funnest driving game physics since Stunt Car Racer. :)

My computer isn't new and shiny. I get 50 fps in time trials, between 39 and 50 in sandbox, and between 17 and 25 in copland and survival (haven't tried any other modes yet) - all fullscreen at 1024x768.

I can't really tell that sandbox is slightly slower than time trial, it still feels nice and fast. Copland and survival are treacley though...

Running on a Pentium-M 1.86ghz laptop w/ 64mb Mobility Radeon X300.

Thanks. Incidentally, Stunt Car Racing using the same elevated tracks is one of the planned mini-games.

I'm getting around FPS: 50 / 140 with everything up and on 1280x1024. Huzzah!

NVIDIA GeForce FX5700
AMD Athlon XP 2600+

Is there a way to move the camera back? As in way back?

Here is a new build which should address ...

Widescreen issues : Menu's should now be fully visible and selectable.

Camera issues : The camera now follows less rigidly. Default camera is now medium view.

Helicopter control : Height is now controlled via the Analogues.

Again, I'd appreciate feedback good or bad but please bear in mind that this is an Alpha demo and by no means the finished article.

Cheers Stevie

Your efforts and polish are really showing Stevie, nice one.
FPS showing 50/100+ Geforce 7800GTX, XP Pro SP3 Quad Core @2.4Ghz

I still think it would benefit from a small radar though.
