Here is something I've been working on for a while.

It's a clone of the classic C64-game "Thrust" made for the Vectrex console.

This is the very first ( and yakyak-exclusive :) ) release so expect bugs!

Play on a real Vectrex using VecRam, or on a emulator such as MESS or VecX.

See included readme-file for playing instructions.

All feedback welcome.

Thanks

*edit* file was lost, so I'm uploading it again.
*edit* now you can also download the beta directly from the homepage.

I am _so_ going to have to invest in one of those VecFlash cartridges before I'm much older. Well, that and a ZVG board.

Cheers
Chris

Amazing news! I so loved this on the BBC Micro.

Can't wait to get home to try it.

For those that haven't, get a VecFlash! It is a top piece of kit that every Vectrex owner should have.

Cheers
Marc

PS As a regular visitor to this site I would have missed this hidden away in programming. I actually found out about it in the Vectrex newsgroups. Cool things need to go in Bleatings!

I agree. I would have posted it in Bleatings, but I have no website up yet, and bleatings can't have file attachments afaik.
When the game is finished I will set up a website and announce it in bleatings.
Hope you will like the game, Misfit!

True indeed. The 2600 version was phenomenal in its own right! :o

i must admit it does puzzle me a little, why is Thrust so popular in this context? Forcing it into some of the machines that now have versions is, i'd have thought at least (i watched the C16 version being coded), an incredible challenge and people seem to try it as a first or second game...!

Shitloads of respect for doing it, mind. =-)

Why Thrust? Here are my reasons:
- because I thought it would look cool on vector hardware instead of a bitmap display
- the impressive 2600 Thrust version convinced me it must be possible to make on a Vectrex
- the original is a really great game, brilliant gameplay and balance :)

Way to go! I just got my first Vectrex console and this vector graphics concept is still fascinating. If I ever have some spare time, I'll start programming on this machine, too.
