I love the idea that Unity will combine frantic shooting with dynamic, fantastic visuals. The feel of a shooter is so important and so is the visual reward.

However have you thought about music that gives you genuine feedback? Rez (and I know you don't like the conparison, but bear with me) hinted at what the combination of shooting and music action could be like but failed to pull it off very well in my opinion.

You also get alot of rythm in alot of modern shmups. Bullet pattens, chains and all those other game mechanics make for a very enjoyable feeling when things click and you get the timing just right.

I like music games like Frequency and Gitarooman alot but the limitations of the genre are begining to really show.

I think a shooter with a musical, rythmic feel could be very addictive. Shootiness, visuals and music all working in tandem.
